Summa Plugin for Adobe Illustrator no longer works since Illustrator 26.3 (Windows)

For Window follow procedure below: 

Since Illustrator update version 26.3, the software will give an error and the Summa plugins will no longer work. You will get an error message which states what plugin is creating the issue:

(SummaCC2018.aip could be also SuGoSignAiCC2018Plugin.aip or SuGoProduce.. or any other Summa plugin installed in Illustrator)

How to check the Illustrator version:

Solution 1 - Roll Cutter - GoSign users - NEW GoSign plugin available

Summa made a new plugin that supports latest Illustrator version:

Remove the old plugin:

• Close Illustrator
• Go to location: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 2022\Plug-ins\Extensions
• Remove the old SuGoSignAiCC2018Plugin.aip file
• Restart Illustrator the error message should no longer appear

Install new plugin:

• Close Illustrator
• Download the latest version from the Summa website: https://www.summa.com/media/1iopf0ap/setupsummagosigntools.exe
• Run the setup and follow the instructions
• Restart Illustrator - new plugin should be available

Solution 2 - Roll Cutter - WinPlot users - Update your system to GoSign

Contact your supplier and check if you can update to GoSign software. GoSign software does also have a free version with limited functionality.

GoSign is to be used with:

• Summa vinyl cutters SummaCut R(L) (firmware rev039 or higher), 
• S Class 2 (firmware rev024 or higher) and 
• S One (firmware rev005 or higher).

Solution 3 - Roll Cutter - WinPlot users - Export your job manually 

(When no update from WinPlot to GoSign is possible)

The Legacy Plugin of Summa has 2 functions:

• Add OPOS markers around the design (to enable later contour cutting a printed OPOS job)
• Export a design to Winplot (for cutters)

For adding OPOS markers you can also use the GoSign plugin. So installation of the GoSign plugin is described above.

See "Solution 1" above for installation of the GoSign plugin.

Exporting the job to Winplot will have to be done manually. This can be done easily by saving the job in PDF format and than import the job in WinPlot.

Remark: Developments on WinPlot and WinPlot plugin were discontinued in 2022. So no updates will come on these products. For S Class 2 (units made since 2013) and SummaCut R units (units made since 2007) there is an option to update to GoSign (see solution 2: "Solution 2 - Roll Cutter - WinPlot users - Update your system to GoSign")

Solution 4 - Roll Cutter - WinPlot users - Downgrade Illustrator version

(When no update from WinPlot to GoSign is possible)

When you do not want to export the job manually to WinPlot than the only solution would be go back to the Illustrator 26.2.x

This can easily be done with your "Creative Cloud Desktop" software application.

• Open the "Creative Cloud Desktop" application
• Select "Other versions" next to the Illustrator application

• Select the "Older version" - 26.2.x:

• Select "Continue" to confirm the install of the old version:

Solution 5 - F Series - GoProduce users - Use GoProduce Plugin 

Summa made a new plugin that supports latest Illustrator version:

Remove the old plugin:

• Close Illustrator
• Go to location: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 2022\Plug-ins\Extensions
• Remove the old SuProduceAiCC2018Plugin.aip file
• Restart Illustrator the error message should no longer appear

Install the new plugin

• Close Illustrator
• Download the latest version from the Summa website: https://www.summa.com/media/l33blcfm/setupsummagoproducetools.exe
• Run the setup and follow the instructions
• Restart Illustrator - new plugin should be available

Solution 6 - F Series - SummaFlex users - Update to GoProduce

Contact your supplier and check if you can update to GoProduce software. GoProduce software is not a free update. Contact your supplier for mor information.

Solution 7 - F Series - SummaFlex users - Use GoProduce Plugin 

(When no update from SummaFlex to GoProduce is possible)

The Legacy Plugin of Summa has 2 functions:

• Add Videomarkers around the design (to enable later contour cutting a printed OPOS job)

For adding OPOS markers you can also use the GoProduce plugin. So installation of the GoProduce plugin is described above (see "Solution 5")
