Most Summa roll cutters manufactured prior to June 2006 are not supported by Summa GoSign software.
These cutters may be driven by Summa Winplot software available at
https://www.summa.com/en-us/support/software-firmware/
Although the Summa WinPlot plugin is no longer supported by current versions of CorelDraw, a full print and cut workflow is possible by using the GoSign plugin for CorelDraw to create print and cut files for processing in Summa WinPlot.
It is assumed that CorelDraw and Summa WinPlot have been installed and configured.
Go to https://www.summa.com/en-us/support/software-firmware/ and download the GoSign Tools installer. The GoSign application is not needed.
Watch the installer’s status window to confirm that the CorelDraw plugin is successfully installed.
Launch CorelDraw, then select Window: Toolbars/Summa GoSign Toolbar to show the plugin controls.
Click the "New from Template" button on the Summa GoSign toolbar.
Swap the names of the “Thru-cut” (100% Blue) and “Kiss-cut” (100% Red) spot color swatches in the palette so that 100% Red is used for “Thru-cut”. This step is necessary to enable use of the FlexCut function in Summa WinPlot.
If desired, edit the document size to set the default size of future documents made from the template. (This step is optional)
Save the resulting file in an easily accessible place as file type CDRT/CDT – CorelDraw Template (*.cdrt, *.cdt). Edit the default file extension if necessary to name the file exactly “Methods.cdt”
Minimize or quit CorelDraw. Locate the new version of “Methods.cdt” that was just saved. Replace the copies of “Methods.cdt” in these locations with the new version:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Summa GoSign Tools\Templates\CorelDRAW\
C:\ProgramData\Summa GoSign Tools\Templates\CorelDRAW\
Open CorelDraw and click the “New from template” button on the Summa GoSign toolbar.
Add work to the new document in the Print Data layer.
Apply the “Kiss-cut” and “Thru-cut” spot colors to cut lines as appropriate.
Move kiss-cut and thru-cut paths to the corresponding layers.
Click the “Add OPOS XY regmarks ” OR “Add OPOS XY2 regmarks ” button on the Summa GoSign toolbar to add regmarks to the job.
If the OPOS registration marks are not on the page, resize the document as necessary.
Disable printing for the cut data layers.
Click the “Publish to PDF” button on the Summa GoSign toolbar to save a print data file.
Print the file through your normal workflow.
Enable printing for the cut data layers and disable printing for the print data layer.
Click the “Publish to PDF” button on the Summa GoSign toolbar to save a cut data file.
Open the cut data file in Summa WinPlot.
When the print is complete and loaded onto the cutter, click the “Send to OPOS Cutter” button.
If Thru-cuts are present in the file, select "Cut red lines in FlexCut mode" in the Output Setup Details window.
Send the job to the cutter.
